What Does Lincoln Enhanced Active Park Assist Do?

Using front, rear and side sensors, the Enhanced Active Park Assist system automatically steers you in and out of your desired parking spot. It scans and locates appropriate parking spaces then alerts you when a possible space is available. It sends a "spot found" message to your LCD screen when it detects a space, and you may choose to engage the Enhanced Active Park Assist feature at this point. When you put your vehicle in reverse, a rear view-image appears on your center LCD screen and displays prompts, telling you when to stop. The system handles the maneuvering for you -- all you need to do is accelerate, brake and shift when needed.

How Does Lincoln Enhanced Active Park Assist Work?

Once the Park Assist feature is activated via a button on your Lincoln center console, you can then indicate which side of your Lincoln you would like the vehicle to search for possible parking spaces. The system starts to scan for available parking spots and on your center display screen, you can view an information screen. An audible chime sounds when a suitable spot is located and a "spot found" message will appear on your screen. If you would like this system to park for you, simply stop the vehicle, shift into reverse and let go of the steering wheel; you will accountable for shifting, accelerating and braking. While in reverse, your Lincoln will chime more rapidly as you approach the car or object behind you, alerting you to brake. Another chime will alert you when it's time for you to shift into drive. A final chime and a prompt on your screen will notify you when the parking process is complete. If you wish to disengage the system and stop the automated parking process, all you have to do is take hold of the wheel or press the activation button. Enhanced Active Park Assist can also help you to get out of a tight parking space. Simply repeat the first step of pressing the same active park assist button that you used to parallel park with. Let go of the steering wheel, accelerate, brake and shift when applicable and your Lincoln steers you out of your space.
