Regular maintenance ensures your Lincoln will always work perfectly. Maintenance also helps reduce future problems, as our technicians can easily identify potential issues before they can develop into problems. As your Lincoln dealer, we want to tell you about some examples of Lincoln maintenance we provide.
Examples of Lincoln Maintenance Available at Your Lincoln Dealer
Engine Diagnostic
An engine diagnostic helps to identify problems in your vehicle. The warning lights on your dash automatically illuminate if your computer identifies something wrong with any of the systems in your Lincoln. Sometimes, the affected system is easily identifiable, for example, an illuminated brake light. The check engine, however, lights up in response to any issue affecting your engine, making diagnosing the issue very time-consuming.
A diagnostic saves time as we connect a scanner to your Lincoln’s computer. The scanner will read any error codes logged by the computer. While the codes don’t always point to the exact system in trouble, they do identify the type of issue affecting your engine. This allows our technicians to quickly zone in on the problem and fix it.
Headlight Replacement
Headlights aren’t used all the time, but damaged or blown bulbs make driving at night difficult and potentially dangerous. If your headlights don’t work correctly, you can’t see the road ahead, and other drivers and pedestrians can’t see you. Most headlight replacements are simply caused by the bulb failing due to age, but they can also be caused by electrical system issues.
Headlight bulbs have a lifespan of 500 to 30,000 hours, depending on the type of bulb you have. Replacing a failing bulb takes only minutes and will make night driving much safer. If a bulb blows due to an electrical issue, we’ll trace and fix it. A failing alternator, damaged wiring, or an electrical short can all cause bulbs to fail sooner than they should.
Engine Mount Replacement
If you hear a thudding noise when driving, you could have a damaged engine mount. Your engine is securely connected to the frame by two liquid-filled rubber mounts. The mounts act as shock absorbers, protecting the engine against jolts as you drive and dissipating vibrations caused as the engine works.
Over time, the rubber mounts can crack, and the liquid inside will seep out. If this happens, the mount’s cushioning effect no longer applies, and the engine will move slightly up and down as you drive. The engine can’t break free from the mounts but can suffer damage from continued vibrations. We’ll examine the mounts and replace them if they’re damaged.
