When your Lincoln needs a service or repair, two types of parts can be used: Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket. As your Lincoln dealership, we only use Lincoln OEM parts in all the work we do. We want to tell you some of the many reasons why OEM parts are superior to aftermarket parts.
Reasons Why Lincoln OEM Parts Are Superior to Aftermarket Parts
They’re High Quality
OEM parts are designed and engineered to the highest standards. They undergo extensive testing to ensure they’re strong and durable, and they’re manufactured from the highest-quality materials. They also meet or exceed national and international quality standards, giving you peace of mind that they will last as long as the parts they replace.
Aftermarket parts are cheaper than OEM parts, but their lower cost sacrifices quality. They’re made from lower-quality materials, which won’t last as long as your Lincoln’s original parts. They also don’t undergo the same stringent testing or meet the same standards as OEM parts. In the long run, aftermarket parts are more expensive as they have to be replaced more frequently.
They Work and Fit Correctly
Vehicle design is a painstaking process, as each component must work correctly, so your vehicle delivers the performance it should. In addition, each part must fit perfectly. A less-than-perfect fit can cause performance issues, damage other parts, or be aesthetically unpleasant. OEM parts are identical to the original parts used in your Lincoln’s manufacture, so they will always fit and work as efficiently.
Aftermarket parts aren’t designed for your vehicle or tested with other Lincoln components. They’re manufactured to fit a range of different vehicle makes and models. As a result, an aftermarket part might not fit correctly and require adjustment. Components that fit poorly can damage other components and, depending on the part, can reduce vehicle and passenger safety.
They Have Warranties
Every Lincoln part carries a guarantee that applies for two years and unlimited mileage. In the unlikely event that a part fails under normal operating conditions, it will be replaced at no charge at any Lincoln dealership. OEM parts are also fully compatible with your Lincoln’s warranty if it hasn’t expired.Aftermarket parts don’t carry a warranty. Since they haven’t been designed or tested on your Lincoln model, their manufacturers can’t guarantee how long the part might last. If an aftermarket part fails, you’d have to buy a replacement and hope it works more successfully. If your Lincoln is still under warranty, any repairs made using aftermarket parts will void the warranty.
These are just some of the reasons why we will only use OEM parts. If you need a service or repair, contact us today at Bayway Lincoln in Houston, TX.
