Many drivers assume the spark plugs provide the power for combustion. The plugs only provide 12 volts of electricity, which isn’t enough to ignite the fuel-air mix. The ignition coil attached to each plug provides the electrical boost for combustion. As your Lincoln dealer, we’d like to advise you on the signs you have a faulty ignition coil we need to fix.

Your Ignition Coils Are Worn

On average, ignition coils are replaced every 100,000 miles. Coils can also become damaged and worn due to other engine problems and may need earlier replacement. A coil’s job is to boost the 12 volts from the spark plug. The coil provides more than 30,000 volts, which is channeled into its plug to ignite the fuel-air mix.

Age or damage will reduce the power generated by a coil, and these factors can even cause a coil to fail. If the coil doesn’t provide enough power to the spark plug, you’ll experience misfiring. The lack of sufficient power means most of the fuel in a cylinder won’t ignite. This fuel is wasted and forced out of the engine. When we replace the damaged coils, combustion will operate normally again.

If you’re itching to get out and enjoy the change in seasons, consider these three fun fall activities that are conveniently located near Houston, TX.

Lake Houston Wilderness Park

This park has over 600 acres of land, including two lakes, hiking trails, and a campground. The park is located in North Harris County’s Humble Independent School District and is only 30 minutes from Downtown Houston. If you’re planning on going camping this fall, Lake Houston Wilderness Park offers seasonal campsites that are available April 1-June 30, or September 1-November 30.

There are also primitive campsites available year-round if you don’t mind roughing it without electricity or running water during your stay. For those who want more amenities during their trip, there are also RV hookups available at the park for $20 per night.

Sage 400

This beautiful restaurant has some of the most creative sushi rolls in town, adding a Texan flair to traditional Japanese fare. For example, the fire dragon roll consists of fried crawfish tails and cucumber and is topped with eel sauce and wasabi. One of their standout rolls is called the sunrise sunset roll. Stuffed with bluefin tuna, salmon, and king crab, it is wrapped in a paper-thin slice of cucumber and topped with a truffle vinaigrette.

Sage 400 has much more besides sushi. Known for attentive service and unique dishes, it’s no surprise this restaurant is always packed, even in the middle of the week. Some of their specials that are sure to blow you away include American Kobe beef and Foie Gras Nigiri. Personally, we are huge fans of the boba tea. This place serves milk tea and matcha milk tea with boba- two of our favorite classic flavors! Even better, you can get the drinks with either whole milk or soy milk. If you have never tried these sweet concoctions, there is no better place to try them than at Hu’s.

3. Songkran Thai Kitchen 

Named after the Thai New Year, there is no better place to get authentic food than in this kitchen. Set in an intimate environment, this is a great place to enjoy casual dining with someone special.

The menu has plenty of options to choose from. With endless amounts of curries, noodles, and soups, you might have a hard time deciding what you want to try! For obvious reasons, we recommend trying the Heavenly beef for an appetizer. For your main meal, you can never go wrong with pad Thai or yellow curry. And for dessert, the coconut sticky rice always wins.
