1. Angelina National Forest

Established in the 1930s, this beautiful national forest covers an area of more than 163,000 acres.

Sam Houston National Forest is located approximately 80 miles north of Houston and can be reached in less than one hour and a half via route I-45. While the drive itself is beautiful, this recreation area is well-known for the many public facilities it offers to visitors. Some of these include a large network of hiking trails, fully equipped campgrounds, fishing piers, and designated hunting grounds.

3. Galveston
