Catch a Show at the Miller Outdoor Theatre

Whether you’re a thespian at heart or simply a fan of the arts, the Miller Outdoor Theatre is the perfect venue to enjoy a wide range of on-stage productions. This includes performances such as La Traviata, produced by the Houston Grand Opera, to more kid-friendly shows like Maria’s Magical Music Adventure, produced by the Express Children’s Theatre.

The Miller Theatre is located at  6000 Hermann Park Drive. All upcoming performances can be found directly on its website, and tickets for each are available to reserve directly from the site. While the theatre doesn’t charge patrons to enjoy the many shows it offers throughout the season, guests are welcome to make donations to the Miller Theatre Advisory Board to support the programming.

Enjoy a Boat Ride Through Port Houston

Port Houston, located at 111 East Loop North, is home to one of the busiest ports in the world, and it’s now easier than ever to learn about the Houston Ship Channel with a free 90-minute round-trip boat ride. This fun opportunity allows visitors to see firsthand how Port Houston operates and provides an up-close look at massive international cargo vessels and crane operators on both sides of the sea-going waterway.

The M/V Sam Houston, which made its inaugural voyage in 1958, is used for this unique tour experience. The vessel has been updated and modernized over time, featuring an air-conditioned lounge and plenty of standing room on the ship’s deck. Reservations can be made online, directly through the Port Houston website.

Visit the Art Car Museum

The Art Car Museum features an impressive collection of vehicles that have been transformed into contemporary works of art through custom paint jobs and added accessories. These unique cars will captivate your attention with their striking colors, intricate designs, and unusual shapes. But the Art Car Museum is not just about cars; it also showcases paintings and sculptures by local and non-local artists.

The museum, also known as “Garage Mahal,” first opened its doors in February 1998. It’s located at 140 Heights Blvd. and is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Guests are required to book an appointment prior to visiting.
