Whether you want to see a slam dunk, a home run, a goal, or a touchdown, Houston, TX is a great destination to satiate your athletic appetite. Check out a game with these top-tier sports teams in the region.

1. Houston Astros

Venture to downtown Minute Miad Park and root, root, root for the Houston Astros home team. This emerging baseball dynasty has become a fixture in the World Series in recent years, earning top honors in 2017 and runner-up league champ status in 2019 and 2021. If you’re aiming to walk away with the best souvenir of all, a home run ball from a super-slugger, get yourself a prime seat in the 2,500-capacity Crawford Boxes.

The trademark blue and orange have been hitting the field since the 1960s, producing legends of the diamond-like Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, and Nolan Ryan as well as a National Register of Historic Places landmark in the Astrodome.

2. Houston Rockets

On any given game day, the Toyota Center may be packed with over 20,000 screaming fans marveling at the three-pointers, dunks, and general athletic excellence of their basketball heroes. Like its baseball counterparts, the team launched in the sixties but found a true home in Houston in the early seventies, where it has been wowing NBA fanatics ever since.

These talents have four conference titles and two national championships to their name. During their whirlwind history, they ascended from a losing streak to a series of successes owed to iconic players such as Hakeem Olajuwon and savvy head coaches like Rudy Tomjanovich.

3. Houston Texans

If you want to experience pro football’s first stadium with a retractable roof, take in a raucous game at NRG Stadium with the NFL’s Texans. This youngster team has only been on the gridiron since 1999, saving Houston’s football dreams after the Oilers departed. These rising stars are quickly gaining momentum, though, playing their way to five conference championships since 2012 and actively on the hunt for that first Super Bowl ring.

The Texans are famed for their entertaining fans, who often party pre-game in the north end zone’s Bull Pen. Party in your own Bull Pen with the Lincoln Navigator. This luxury SUV has all you need for tailgating fun, from a fully stocked rear passenger entertainment system (featuring Fire TV compatibility and rocking 28-speaker stereo) to a gargantuan 103 cubic feet of cargo capacity possible with electronic folding seats. That cavernous console bin provides plenty of refreshment storage space.

4. Houston Dynamo and Dash

If soccer’s your speed, you can’t pass up a chance to see North America’s top soccer team in person at PNC Stadium. The Dynamo won back-to-back league championships in the mid-2000s and have been building on this resume ever since.

The National Women’s Soccer League is also establishing its rep after debuting in 2012. The home team Houston Dash, formed two years later, are prominent pioneers in popularizing “the other football” in America.
