If you see your overheating light begin to flash, that is your sign that it’s time to quickly find a solution! No amount of driving is safe when your vehicle’s temperature is too high, and continuing to cruise around can result in irreparable damage to your engine and other moving components. If you have a car overheating, check this list for common reasons before visiting your Lincoln dealer.
1. Troubles With Coolant
Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is a mixture of water and glycol. This brightly colored substance runs through your engine in openings called water jackets to allow the liquid a chance to absorb the heat and draw it away from the powerhouse.
Issues with coolant can be as simple as not having enough. Punctures in your cooling system can cause leaks, and over time the amount of antifreeze available will begin to dwindle. Another common problem includes blockages in the piping, often from things like rusted tubes or the buildup of deposits. If the coolant can’t flow, heat will not be able to move from the engine to the radiator.

The alternator belt is a vital part of your car’s engine. As the crankshaft turns, it causes the alternator belt to move. The belt moves across a series of pulleys and causes the pulleys to spin. The spinning pulleys power the alternator, AC, and other important components. As your Lincoln dealer, we’d like to tell you some signs that you need a new car belt.
Squealing Noises
The alternator belt is manufactured from tough, reinforced rubber, but it can eventually wear out. A belt is usually replaced every 40,000 to 70,000 miles. Your Lincoln’s manual will give the exact time for replacement, as the belt is changed during one of your scheduled services. One of the first signs that your belt is starting to go bad is a chirping noise, which will gradually escalate into louder squealing noises.
An alternator belt is kept under constant tension to work correctly. Your belt’s tension is maintained by a spring-loaded or hydraulic belt tensioner. A failure in the belt tensioner can cause the belt to squeal even if the belt is in good condition. Our technicians will check the belt, and fix the problem.

To avoid accidents on the road, you should bring your car to the Lincoln dealer for a safety inspection on a regular basis. Usually, booking this type of appointment once a year is enough, but if your car is older or you drive a lot, you should consult your mechanic or your Lincoln’s manual to find out what the optimal frequency for a car inspection is.
How Often Should You Get a Car Safety Inspection?
In Texas, motorists who drive cars that are two years or older should get their vehicle inspected once a year to comply with the local regulations. Even if your Lincoln is new, you should bring it to the dealership every 12 months to make sure all the vital parts are still in good condition.
For most Lincoln drivers, this annual inspection should be enough to keep the vehicle safe to drive. However, you might want to come to the dealership more often if you drive very frequently or if your car is more than five years old. When in doubt, you can either give us a call or check your manual.

Car scratches and dents are an inevitable but aggravating aspect of being a car owner, and sometimes it just feels easier to ignore them. However, this is most definitely a false economy, especially when you consider how much effort you put into keeping your Lincoln washed and waxed to show off its sleek lines. Read on for some of the reasons why you should contact your Lincoln dealer to deal with your car dents today.
Car Dents Might Mean Underlying Damage
No matter how careful you are, it’s impossible to guarantee that a misjudged maneuver or a moment of inattention won’t cause a dented vehicle. It can be tempting to ignore dents, especially if they’re unobtrusive, but the problem might go deeper than you think. Sometimes a dent can mask more serious damage to your car, and might even undermine its structural integrity.
For example, a dent might mean that your bumper has been damaged or broken. And because it’s specifically designed to protect you by absorbing impact, there could be serious implications if you’re involved in a collision. By getting professional assistance to deal with dents, you’re ensuring that you drive with optimum safety.
